A Harmonious Blend of Tea and Toasted Rice

Discover the unique charm of genmaicha, a beloved Japanese tea that combines premium sencha (first harvest green tea) with fragrant roasted rice. Our genmaicha features exceptional medium-steamed first harvest tea (ichibancha) from Chiran, Kagoshima Prefecture - Kyushu's premier tea-producing region - expertly blended with aromatic toasted rice.

From Japan's Tea Capital

Chiran, located in Kagoshima Prefecture, is renowned as one of Japan's leading tea-producing areas. The region's volcanic soil, mild climate, and generations of tea-making expertise create the perfect conditions for cultivating exceptional tea. Our genmaicha uses only first harvest sencha leaves, prized for their delicate flavor and superior quality.

What is Genmaicha?

Genmaicha is a traditional Japanese blend that combines sencha (first harvest green tea) with roasted brown rice. The rice adds a warm, nutty sweetness that perfectly complements the fresh, grassy notes of the green tea. Some rice grains pop during roasting, creating a delightful visual and aromatic experience - earning it the nickname "popcorn tea."

Tasting Notes

  • Grounding: Earthy, comforting character that centers you
  • Crispy: Toasted rice brings a satisfying, crisp quality
  • Nutty: Rich, roasted notes with natural sweetness
  • Refreshing: Clean, revitalizing finish

How to Brew

Hot Brew: Use 1 tablespoon (5g) of genmaicha per cup with water heated to 80-85°C. Steep for 30 seconds for a perfectly balanced cup. The combination of tea and rice creates a naturally satisfying flavor that needs no additions.

Cold Brew: Add 2 tablespoons (10g) to 500ml of cold water and refrigerate for 4-6 hours. The result is a refreshing, naturally sweet cold tea perfect for any time of day.
